Toothache

Call us immediately when you have a toothache, as it is not going to go away for good without proper dental treatments. If you experience tooth pain outside of office hours, over the counter painkillers such as Tylenol, Advil, or Motrin can be used to help relieve the pain until morning.

Pain or sensitivity in a tooth may be due to a small, easily fixed issue, or it may indicate a more serious problem. In either case, it is always best to contact our office immediately for an appointment to treat the problem before it worsens. When it comes to dental pain, cavities are the most likely culprit, but discomfort may also be caused by gum disease resulting in bone loss and receding gums. Sometimes eating or drinking something hot, cold or sweet can cause a flare up of pain, or in other cases, the pain may come and go spontaneously.

Remember – the fastest way to relieve a toothache is to come see us as soon as possible! Messages left overnight will be returned when we open, at 9am from Monday to Saturday. Please call us now at (905) 836-0836 for an appointment, and let us help your tooth feel better.

Broken Teeth

A broken or chipped tooth should be fixed as soon as possible to prevent further damage to the area. Exposed dentin due to a fracture or chip will allow bacteria to quickly break down the tooth’s structure and make restoring the area more difficult. Most of the broken teeth can be easily fixed. When composite bonding material is used, our experienced dentists can match the filling material to the natural colour of your teeth. No one would ever have an idea that your tooth was broken before!

For a larger broken tooth into the dental nerve, you may need a root canal treatment and possibly a crown to restore the tooth in the long run.

Tooth Being Knocked Out

If your tooth has been knocked out due to impact, call us right away for your emergency appointment. The tooth may be salvageable if you act quickly. The tooth can be carried in a container of milk until you get to our office.

Bumps and Impacts

Following any significant impact or injury to the mouth, it is important that the dentist examine your teeth so that the dentist can advise of potential damage or fractures. Even when no bleeding is present and the teeth do not appear to be loose, a dentist should be consulted as soon as possible. Please contact our office at (905) 836-0836 now for an evaluation following any accidents involving the mouth, teeth or jaw.

Bleeding and Lacerations – Heavy bleeding should be treated by applying pressure with a sterile gauze pad or clean hand towel. Although most cuts to the lips, gums and tongue can heal on their own, stitches or antibiotics may be indicated in some cases. Call us now so that our dentists can check the area out for your and see if there is a need for dental services.
